An Adams County, Ohio jury sided with rapper Afroman (Joseph Foreman) after seven sheriff’s deputies sued him for nearly $4 million, claiming he defamed them and invaded their privacy by using his own home security footage to make music videos mocking their 2022 raid on his house. The raid β conducted with weapons drawn on some BS suspicion of drug trafficking and kidnapping β turned up zero evidence and led to zero charges. But the deputies wanted Afroman to pay for making them famous.
The three-day trial in Adams County was packed with viral moments: Afroman on the stand in an American flag suit, deputies testifying about receiving hundreds of pound cakes, a defense lawyer comparing rap lyrics to Lil Wayne and NWA’s “F the Police,” and a closing argument that asked the jury whether public officials can use the courts to silence criticism.
